Jeff Fager spent fourteen years as Executive Producer of 60 Minutes, the longest tenure in the broadcast's history. Under his leadership, the program won Peabody Awards, Emmys, and the Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence. He also served as Chairman of CBS News. His career at CBS spanned more than three decades, from foreign bureaus in London and the Middle East to the executive producer's chair at the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather. He reported on the Rabin assassination, the fall of the Soviet Union, and the rise of Al Qaeda. Fager writes about journalism, the people who practice it, and the institutions that make great reporting possible. His work draws on close friendships with Mike Wallace, Morley Safer, Andy Rooney, Bob Simon, and George Crile. He lives in New York.
