Jay earned a double Bachelor's Degree and a Master’s in health research fields. While pursuing doctoral work in Human Genetics, he joined a volunteer team hosting a Philadelphia weekend shelter where his natural affinity blossomed for ‘seeing’ people where they were. He also discovered a profound purpose and satisfaction in just being present for people in their times of need. The shift eventually led him to a career in youth and family counseling and life coaching. He also served as a substitute teacher in public schools, several of which were extended time in special needs contexts. His profound admiration and respect for the developing teenage mind frequently led to parents seeking him out when schools identified their child’s need for counseling. Jay’s own parenting experience began with being a court appointed legal guardian for a teenager identified by the school system as ‘at-risk.’ Thirty years and four children later he still calls Jay “Dad.” That experience deepened his appreciation for the challenges faced by parents of teenagers while reinforcing his passion for guiding young people through their journeys of self-discovery. Today, Jay continues to find fulfillment in walking alongside individuals who seek to discover solutions to life's challenges, helping them uncover their own inner strengths and insights.
