Jason Y. Ng is a leading nonfiction writer in Hong Kong and the author of three acclaimed books charting Hong Kong’s post-colonial development: "HONG KONG State of Mind" (2010), "No City for Slow Men" (2013), and "Umbrellas in Bloom" (2016) — the first book written in English to chronicle the Umbrella Movement. He is also a lawyer, activist, newspaper columnist and former president of PEN Hong Kong. Ng was a co-editor of "Hong Kong 20/20" (2017) and "Hong Kong Noir" (2019), part of Akashic's international "noir" series. His short stories have appeared in various anthologies. Ng is an advising editor to the Los Angeles Review of Books China Channel. He has been profiled in the New York Times, TimeOut, the South China Morning Post, and featured at the Hong Kong International Literary Festival, the Hong Kong Book Fair, Singapore Writers' Festival and the Beijing Bookworm Festival, among others.
