Jamie Woodward is Professor of Physical Geography at The University of Manchester. He studied Geography at Aberystwyth University and carried out PhD research in Cambridge (Darwin College). Jamie has published widely on recent Earth history including ice age landscape change with a particular focus on the mountains of the Mediterranean world. He spent many field seasons working with British Museum archaeologists in the Nile Valley. You can follow him on Twitter/X @Jamie_Woodward_ where he tweets on Earth history the human past, and microplastic pollution in rivers. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) and the British Society for Geomorphology. He was Vice-President of the RGS (Research and Higher Education) from 2022 to 2025.
