Hmong-American writer Jamie Lee is an alumnus of CSU, Fresno, and a self-published author. Growing up, her dream was to visit Prince Edward Island and write novels like Lucy Maud Montgomery. Now that she's an adult, her dream is to win the lottery and quit her day job. "Gerry's Hmong Band: a Novel" is Jamie's debut novel and an attempt to take a closer look at the Hmong-American family dynamics. Hmong-American history is closely tied to the Vietnam War, the Secret War in Laos, and the United States. Coming to terms with that history and shaping a future for Hmong families, Jamie tries to weave a story about love, dreams, music, and hope. Currently, Jamie resides in the Central Valley of California, which has the second-largest Hmong population in the United States.
