Jamie Clubb (1976-) grew up in a old travelling circus family. With the traditional British circus entering its death-throes in the 1980s, Jamie was still a child when his family began reorganising their business into training animals for education and the wide world of the audiovisual industries (feature films, natural history documentaries, still photography etc.) Jamie has worked with and around virtually every conceivable form of entertainment, and lived virtually his entire life in the presence of wild animals (and that is just the human company he has kept!) Jamie's first book, the historical biography of two famous circus elephants, "The Legend of Salt and Sauce", was dedicated to a lady he met on the circus when he was only four years old. Accompanied by the smell of paint and freshly ground coffee beans, Jamie was introduced to the art of storytelling by this very person. Throughout his disparate and varied life experiences and interests the desire to entertain through story has stayed with Jamie. However, being a part of a culture that suffered a lot of prejudice inspired Jamie from a relatively young age to compartmentalise the joy of fantasy from the importance of seeking clinical truths. This would have an influence over both his interests and his writing. Never would this dual interest in mythology and critical thinking be more evident than during his career as a martial arts/self-protection teacher. Having first been attracted to it as 13 year old as a type of escapism, Jamie found that he had to do a lot of travelling from his home in the remote countryside to pursue his training. This vagabond method ended up taking Jamie through a range of different martial arts. He began writing for printed martial arts magazines and online journals in the 2000s and presented a two-part documentary for Summersdale, "Cross Training in the Martial Arts". He started teaching his own approach to martial arts during the same decade and continued training under a wide range of teachers. His self-protection/martial arts books so far are "Mordred's Victory", "When Parents Aren't Around" and "Wrong Fu". "Wrong Fu" is the prequel to a series of volumes dedicated to critical thinking in the martial arts subculture.
