I'm Jacqueline Patricks, and I write scifi, fantasy and romantasy and paramedic short stories. For those who are thinking.., romantasy...ugh. Don't worry, I like my romance with a strong dose of maturity and great dialogue. No weak MFC here! But a strong heroine needs a strong hero fighting with her, am I right? Some of my favorite reads are: Game of Thrones, Kushiel's Dart, Ender's Game to give you an idea of my influences. Favorite movies: Star Wars, Aliens, Labyrinth, Tron, Legend I love epic stories! Stories with symbolism and action and adventure AND romance! Why shouldn't we have it all? I'm a paramedic and former Army, so I love adding realistic fight scenes and blood and violence when the story requires it. Sometimes I write really spicy and dark! (like in Dreams of the Queen) Sometimes mild/moderate (Fairytale Apocalypse) and sometimes LBGTQIA+ like my upcoming epic Fantasy romance Pale Empire (which has a repressed queer male lead in a medieval world who goes on a quest and ends up saving the world while discovering dark things about himself and his world) My preferred writing POVs are: deep third limited, multiple POV, which means I get inside each character's head when they're on the stage and explore epic stories and deep first person - allows for emotional, impactive, personal stories. It all depends on what the story demands. I love mash-ups, and I love coloring outside of the lines. I don't believe in putting people or characters in neat little boxes. I write what feels real to me. I hope it feels real to you, and it hits all the hard emotions. I make my own covers in Photoshop. No AI. So, yeah, maybe they're not amazeballs, drop dead perfect, but they're mine. I own all the rights. And you know what? They're not cookie cutter like every other cover out there. All from my imagination. Same with my written work. All me. No AI. So, maybe, if you're thinking meh on the cover. Don't judge it without sampling my work. I've been writing for decades. Fiction and Non-fiction. I'm traditionally published in Medical Non-Fiction under my real name and have years of writing experience. But enough about me. I send out newsletters about once a month. I'm not going to spam you every week. I'm no good at newsletters anyhow. I forget all the time what with all the writing and marketing. But when I do send one, I try to send fun things like free books (not just mine) previews and other goodies. I'd love to connect with you on social media!
