J. Todd Billings is the Gordon H. Girod Research Professor of Reformed Theology at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan. He received degrees from Wheaton College and Fuller Theological Seminary, and his Th.D. from Harvard University. An ordained minister, he is the author of seven books and numerous scholarly essays, including in the Oxford Handbook and Cambridge Companion series. He also writes for popular audiences in Christianity Today, The Christian Century, and Mere Orthodoxy.

His first book, "Calvin, Participation, and the Gift," won the 2009 Templeton Award for Theological Promise. His third book, "Union with Christ," won a 2012 Christianity Today Book Award. "Rejoicing in Lament" reflects on providence and lament in light of his cancer diagnosis, while "The End of the Christian Life" explores how embracing our mortal limits can deepen discipleship. His most recent book is the co-authored "Generously Reformed" (2026).
