J. Samuel Davies was born in Georgia in the final quarter of the 20th century. He loves stories at both extremes—something small that turns out to carry more weight than anyone expected, and something vast enough to lose yourself in for a while. He rarely starts with a plot of his own; he starts with characters and follows them until they tell him how it ends. That shows up in everything he writes, from tiny stories to a mystery to a fantasy world year s in the making: Zerowan. Away from the page, he's drawn to hiking, classical music, and quiet. Some say he's a little off. But then again, who among us isn't?
