I grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. I moved with my husband to Washington, DC. in 1969, where we raised three children. I now am retired from a long career of policy analysis and management with an emphasis on improving policies for low- and moderate-income families, the last 25 years of which were with the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. I’ve taught public finance at Johns Hopkins University and George Mason University, and have served as a commissioner on the District of Columbia Tax Revision Commission. In 1999, I received the Steven D. Gold award for contributions to state and local fiscal policy, an award jointly given by the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management, the National Conference of State Legislatures, and the National Tax Association. I have an MBA from George Washington University and an AB from the University of Chicago. I have traveled extensively in the US and abroad, both for my job and my husband’s. We lived in Bangkok, Thailand for two years in the 1970s when my husband was posted there for his work. My husband and I now live in Chevy Chase, Maryland, with Mango, our goldendoodle, and grandchildren nearby. I never imagined I would write a novel, but the inspiration hit me after retirement. Since publishing A Wife in Bangkok in 2020, I have been working on an historical novel, tentatively titled Gitel's Freedom. Stay tuned for publication information.
