Igor Tsvetkov was born in Ulyanovsk, a city on the Volga River 900 km east of Moscow, where he later headed the legal department of a defense plant during the turbulent 2000s. That experience—fighting corporate raiders, navigating corrupt courts, and witnessing firsthand the brutal reality of post-Soviet capitalism—became the foundation for his debut legal thriller, Lawyers Among Thieves: The Volga Trap. Tsvetkov holds a law degree and a translation diploma from Ulyanovsk State University, as well as a PhD in intellectual property law from Kazan State University. He taught law at Ulyanovsk State University for eight years before moving to Moscow, where he has since held senior legal and executive positions in corporate communications, government relations and venture consulting. Tsvetkov is married for the second time and has three children. He enjoys cycling in summer and skiing in winter. Lawyers Among Thieves is his first novel.
