Heidi A. Hill wrote her first story at the age of nine about the Mariposa, a passenger liner that was retired and would never again return to the sea. She has a couple of bachelor's degrees, studied Medieval and Rennaisance history and literature at Oxford, sang in a garage band that went the way of the Dodo, and, unfortunately, has never fallen off a horse. She yearns for the day that she, too, will escape that valley. But she does acknowledge that the oaks are lovely. Hill is the author of Songless: The Desert, the first novel in the Songless Saga, and The House That Jack Built, a prequel companion novella set in the same mythic frontier world. Her fiction blends spiritual allegory with the stark realism of the American West, exploring courage, redemption, and the quiet reach of grace. The next novel in the series, Songless: The Fort, is due for release in 2026. Her work speaks to readers drawn to mythic storytelling, moral clarity, and the austere beauty of the frontier.
