Girls Write Now is a nationally award-winning nonprofit that mentors and publishes the next generation of writers and leaders. Breaking down barriers of gender, race, age, and poverty since 1998, Girls Write Now serves women-identifying, trans, and gender-expansive youth and young adults from systemically underserved communities—90% of color, 90% high need, 75% first-generation or immigrant, and 25% LGBTQIA+. Through our intergenerational community and unique mentoring and publishing model, we help young people harness the power of their voices to shape culture, impact industries, and inspire change. Each year, we publish an award-winning anthology of original work from our mentees—a showcase of bold, authentic storytelling from rising writers across the country. Our anthologies have been honored by the Independent Publisher Book Awards, National Indie Excellence Awards, and International Book Awards, and have earned praise from literary icons including Gloria Steinem, Amanda Gorman, Roxane Gay, Meg Wolitzer, and Janet Mock.
