Gary Pickering was born and raised in Temiscaming, Quebec – a small town on the Quebec/Ontario border, right on the Ottawa River. At 18 years of age, he left Temiscaming for his first full time job as a Telegraph Operator with Canadian National Railways. For four years he travelled across the province of Ontario, relieving senior operators for their vacation. Over his 27 years in Corrections, he assumed progressively responsible positions including Correctional Officer and culminating with his appointment to the position of Superintendent. He retired in 2002. His first book, If The Walls Could Talk was released in September of 2018. His second book, a murder mystery entitled The Maraca Murders was released in December 2018.
