Gary Morrison – Author, Musician, Dreamer Gary Morrison is a Yorkshire-born writer and lifelong musician whose love of The Beatles transformed not only his creative path—but the course of his life. Raised in the postwar North of England, Gary grew up with a Dansette record player, transistor radios, and the distant shimmer of Abbey Road echoing through every chapter of his youth. After years working in the banking world, he returned to his true passions: songwriting, storytelling, and capturing the poetry of everyday life. In 2007, across the digital waves of a Paul McCartney fan forum, Gary met Valerie—an American music lover with her own haunted childhood, Cold War secrets, and a shared devotion to melody and meaning. Their story became Shadows of the Beatles: A Transatlantic Memoir of Love, a sweeping, true-life tale of music, memory, and soul connection that spans continents and generations. Together, Gary and Val record original music as Valgary, with four albums streaming worldwide and a companion soundtrack to their memoir titled Memoir: The Soundtrack. When not writing or recording, they live quietly in the Midwest, where they continue to chase the songs of their youth—and the love that changed everything.
