In 2002, I received a phone call. The voice told me that my Air Force pilot son Kevin was found unconscious at the bottom of a ski hill in New Zealand. I dropped everything. When I arrived at his side, he was in a coma. The doctors told me Kevin would be a vegetable for the rest of his life. I refused the prognosis.
