Fran Severn is a journalist and lifelong rider who focuses on what it means to stay active with horses through midlife. She grew up in Baltimore and earned a degree in mass communications before beginning her career at WHAS radio in Louisville, where she covered the Kentucky Derby and events at the Kentucky Horse Park. Her move to England introduced her to dressage and opened the door to writing about equestrian life, international competition, and the people who keep the sport moving. Her reporting has appeared in USDF Connection, Newsday, The Trail Rider, Western Horseman, Dog Fancy and other publications. Fran is the author of Riders of a Certain Age and several other equestrian titles, including Book of Barn Hacks; Book of Barn Hacks: 1,000+ Tips for Horse Care, Riding and Handling and Creating Your Journey: A Companion to Riders of a Certain Age. Fran’s experience as an older rider shapes the practical guidance she offers to adults who want to stay confident, capable, and involved with horses at any stage of life. The audiobook edition of Riders of a Certain Age is now available.
