Fiona Ballard grew up in Hampshire, Dorset and Malaya. She successfully combined motherhood with an NHS career spanning over twenty five years. Her life experiences have contributed hugely to the depth and substance of her writing. The creative writing journey began with a gift of an entry fee for a story competition. To date she has written a semi-autobiography Taking The Bandage, followed by The Wedding Dress a short story collection. The first adult fiction novel Look Both Ways was released in autumn 2022, and recently in July 2026. Her latest novel Inscription was released in January 2024 and is now available on Kindle. In March 2025 Fiona released her first children's book. Malachi & the Sick Dragon. Currently Fiona belongs to a Portsmouth Authors Collective which offers an eclectic mix of authors, courses, blogs, and sales opportunities. In between writing stories Fiona enjoys travelling, swimming, cookery, dog walking, and singing in a local community choir.
