While I've always knew I wanted to write, I was also interested in people and what makes us all tick. And not just the things that happen in our heads. Things like how our various cultures and geographic locations and histories also have an impact.   When I had the chance to study a bit later in life than usual, I started with a Diploma in Hypnotherapy. Purely by chance it was offered in the regional centre where I lived, and it was fascinating. When opportunities opened up for university education, I followed this with a Degree in Applied Psychology and a Post-Graduate Diploma. But there was so much about understanding people that for me, didn't fall into that academic discipline. Looking for 'what else' led me to an Arts Degree in Philosophy (with a minor in anthropology).  This was much more 'up my alley' and I extended it into a Masters in Psychoanalytic Studies. I joke that I'd probably have continued if there'd been plenty of jobs for philosophers. Instead, as my circumstances changed, I changed direction again too, and worked in public administration, hospitality, and engineering until finally... finally, I started writing.
