I am the proud Canadian author of “The Doonies”, a whimsical and fun book series for children. This enchanting series follows a delightful cast of elf-like creatures and their adorable pet tree frog, Schnarf, in the magical Forest of Doon. Each book weaves together a magical Doonie adventure with a parallel storyline featuring a human child, all with valuable life lessons along the way. 🍁 Before diving into the world of children's literature, I was a published poet and later transitioned into a successful career as a Senior Executive Assistant in the tech sector. This journey showcases my diverse skill set and adaptability - proof that creativity and professionalism can coexist beautifully! 😁 The idea for “The Doonies” came during leisurely autumn walks with my new dogs in a nearby forest in the fall of 2022. These moments of connection and discovery sparked the creation of characters Kevin and Schnarf! And then - the idea of tiny, magical beings frolicking in the enchanting woods I had discovered simply popped into my mind. The Doonies had arrived, demanding to be written, and in a single, feverish night, I outlined all ten books with interconnected storylines. And just like that, on the same evening I began writing Book One. I am currently writing Book Five, AND beloved Canadian children's entertainer Erick Traplin has collaborated with me and written our theme song! 🎵As one of Ontario’s foremost children’s entertainers, Erick has performed his unique brand of music for kids of all ages throughout Ontario and Eastern Canada. Since 1989, Erick has been sharing his appreciation and love of music by entertaining children, parents and educators at: schools, fairs, libraries, daycares, picnics, music festivals, community and corporate events throughout Ontario and Eastern Canada. And now – I am so thrilled to say he has become the musical heart of “The Doonies”! “I feel privileged to share their tales for kids of every age to delight in with their loved ones.
