I am a late 30-something wife and mother of two boys, who happen to be eight years apart in age. Oddly enough, my mother also had two children, and we are eight years apart in age; it's funny how history repeats itself sometimes. At first I thought this was a coincidence when I found out that I was having my second son (surprise!) in my mid-thirties, but after he was born, I found out that this may not be a coincidence, but rather, genetic factor at play. Thus began my long and rough journey into the depths of hormonal imbalances and all of the turmoil they can cause. In my case, POI (Primary Ovarian Insufficiency) was what I discovered was going on inside my body, and had been for a few years leading up to my pregnancy with my youngest. My road to discovering my hormonal imbalances and how to correct them has been long and winding, and the journey is far from over; actually, it's never over for most women dealing with these imbalances. However, I have learned so much about how to help myself, and I've even had to educate my doctors on these strategies, and I figured that writing about my experiences on this road could potentially help other women dealing with similar imbalances to struggle just a little bit less than I have. Hence why I wrote " Fix Your Hormones, Finally Lose Weight, and Fix Your Life." Speaking of fixing one's life, I am starting to feel normal-ish again after employing some of the healing strategies in this book, and I can finally say that I am getting back to enjoying my hobbies: spending time with my family, baking, socializing with adults now and again, hiking, walking for exercise, yoga, and going to Rock/Metal concerts or festivals with my hubby! Yes, we ARE starting to be those "old people" at Rock concerts, but hey, if you don't enjoy your life, what's the point?
