Emily Brewin is a Melbourne author, copywriter and learning designer who grew up in Victoria’s West Gippsland. She completed environment / international development studies and worked in journalism before becoming an educator. Writing has always been a constant, through each degree, career change, overseas trip and the birth of her two children. Finally, she took the plunge and did what she’d always wanted: write a book. Emily has published two novels, Hello, Goodbye (2017) and Small Blessings (2019), both with Allen & Unwin. Her first YA novel is due for release in April 2024. Her short fiction appears in several anthologies and has been shortlisted for literary awards, including the 2017 Bristol Short Story Prize and Overland’s Fair Australia Prize. In 2018, she was awarded a Bundanon Artist Residency and an Australian Society of Authors mentorship in 2020. Emily's non-fiction writing has appeared in The Age, Archer, Feminartsy, Kill Your Darlings, Meanjin, Mamamia, Metro, Screen Education and Shine magazines. She is currently writing her fourth novel. When she isn’t hunched over her computer, writing, Emily enjoys cycling and letting loose with her wonderful children, family and friends.
