Ella Drummond writes domestic thrillers. Her books are perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell and Mary Kubica. Her first book, The Midnight Swim (previously published by Hera Books as My Last Lie) and her second book, Run For The Shadows (previously published by Hera Books as The Darkest Summer) are both out now. A third brand new book will be published in 2026. The inspiration for The Midnight Swim came after she was involved in a car accident and her car was pushed onto a verge with a steep drop on one side. Thankfully, Ella wasn't hurt, but it made her think what might have happened if things had turned out differently. Run For The Shadows was inspired by the disappearance of a teenage friend. Ella did eventually meet up with her friend and was able to discover what had happened all those years before, but it did make her wonder. Her novels explore what happens to someone's mindset when the unthinkable happens and how some people find a way to continue with their life after trauma, while others aren't able to do so.
