Profoundly disabled by polio at age five, Elinor Young was told her future would be limited. She spent the next eighteen years proving everyone wrong, living and working among the Kimyal people of the Eastern Highlands of Papua, Indonesia, learning their language, surviving earthquakes and tribal conflict, and building a life that few people anywhere in the world have ever lived.
