Dr. Egilius L.H. Spierings is a neurologist and pharmacologist who has spent nearly 50 years at the forefront of headache medicine. With specialty training in the diagnosis and treatment of headache and facial pain, he brings a rare combination of clinical depth and scientific rigor to a field that affects billions of people worldwide yet remains widely misunderstood. Throughout his distinguished academic career, Dr. Spierings served as Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and as Clinical Professor of Neurology and Craniofacial Pain at Tufts University Schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine in Boston. His research in pharmacology contributed directly to the development of migraine medications that have improved the lives of countless patients. Today he serves as Medical Director of the Greater Boston Headache Center at Boston Advanced Medicine in Waltham, Massachusetts, where he continues to see patients and advance the understanding of headache disorders. His book, Headaches: Why You Have Them, What You Can Do About Them, distills a lifetime of clinical experience into a clear and compassionate guide for anyone living with headaches or caring for someone who does.
