Edward Bjurstrom brings over 40 years of biopharmaceutical leadership to his writing, coaching, and consulting. His career has been dedicated to operational excellence in producing life-saving medicines. With a degree in chemical engineering, he began his professional journey at a major engineering firm, where he first encountered the emerging field of biotechnology. This early exposure led him to Amgen, where he spent 18 years helping the company grow from a promising startup into a global pharmaceutical leader. Following Amgen, Edward founded a consulting firm focused on helping small biotech companies navigate the complex path to FDA approval. A consulting role with Gilead Sciences eventually became a senior leadership position overseeing their Southern California manufacturing operations. After retiring from Gilead in 2023, he launched a new consultancy dedicated to supporting individuals, teams, and leaders in highly regulated industries, where the weight of compliance often amplifies the pressures of leadership. His four decades of experience have shaped a deep understanding of the pressures leaders face—and what it takes to succeed when the stakes are high.
