Drew Kelly is a gamer, a veteran, and a dad. He writes dark, character-driven progression fantasy and LitRPG shaped by the golden age of RPG storytelling. Think Drakken, Dark Cloud, Baldur’s Gate. The kind of games where the world was rough, but the story pulled you forward and the hero had a shot. Gameplay that sucked you in, and kept you with the story. His worlds are brutal, sometimes ugly. But the people in them? They’re worth fighting for. The monsters stay monsters, and the whole “humans were the real monsters all along” bit gets left behind. What you’ll find instead is duty, and knowing the good guys win in the end. Before he was writing full-time, Drew served in uniform (Garryowen!), then served again as a social worker. That experience shows up in his books, service, duty, and quiet deceny. If you liked Fable, Elden Ring, Bloodborne, The Witcher, or There Is No Light, you’ll probably feel right at home in his work.
