Dr. Wes Bellamy is a nationally recognized educator, activist, and award-winning author. He serves as Chair of the Political Science Department at Virginia State University, CEO of the Black College Invitational Championship (BCIC), and National Public Policy Chairman for the 100 Black Men of America. A former Vice-Mayor of Charlottesville—the youngest ever elected to City Council—he led efforts to remove Confederate statues and created a four million dollar Equity Package for marginalized communities. He also served two terms as Chair of the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority. Dr. Bellamy is the founder and commissioner of the Tonsler League, Virginia’s largest summer basketball league, blending 13 years of mentorship, community service, and annual holiday giving. His acclaimed documentary, A Time to Yell: More Than a Statue, explores racial equity and civic courage. His latest book, Nobody’s Coming to Save Us: The Blackprint for Leadership, inspires purpose-driven, authentic leadership.
