About the Author – Diane Marie Mitchell

Diane Marie Mitchell is an author, blogger, and passionate student of Scripture who writes about identity in Christ, grace, belonging, and the freedom that comes from knowing we don’t have to prove our worth.

Born and raised on Chicago’s Northwest Side, Diane was the fourth generation of her family to live in the same two-flat brick apartment building. Her journey eventually took her to Washington, California, Oregon, and Colorado. While living in Southern California, she adopted her daughter from China. Today, they both call the Denver area home.

In her first book, Dying to Belong, Diane helps Christians recognize the difference between a healthy church and one shaped by performance and control. Her latest book, Defined by Love, comes from an even more personal place: her own years of people-pleasing and trying to measure her worth through performance and acceptance.

Having experienced how exhausting it is to keep trying to prove you are enough; Diane now writes to point others toward a different way to live: You don’t have to earn God’s love. In Jesus, you are loved, accepted, and given a new identity. She helps readers live with joy and confidence in who Jesus says they are.
