I am a lifelong writer and lover of books. I retired from university teaching in 2012 to volunteer for the nonprofit Tostant, an amazing organization offering a human rights based nonformal education program in West Africa. I'm an educational psychologist by training and study how people learn and how that learning changes them and those around them. In the last several years I have been studying about the importance of sleep and have written a book of sleep scenarios designed to help adult readers get back to sleep. It's part of the exciting movement to treat sleep disorders through cognitive behavior therapy. This work has changed my sleep and engaged me with audiences who also struggle in the middle of the night. I am now an advocate for abundant sleep. I am donating all proceeds from the book to Tostan. I live in Seattle and enjoy spending time with my children and their families.
