David Stuart is an archaeologist and scholar who studies Mesoamerican cultures. His research focus is on ancient Maya civilization, and he has played a key role in the ongoing decipherment of Maya hieroglyphic writing. He is the author of several books on Mesoamerican history and culture. He is currently Professor in Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Austin.
