One of the hardest parts of being an author is creating an interesting bio, especially when life feels so mundane.

Unlike a lot of authors, I never wanted to write books, but in hindsight, I suppose I’ve always been on this path. I started my writing journey with songs. I loved the storytelling aspect of music and how it integrated rhyming. That led me to poetry, where I got to express my emotions in a way that songs hadn’t allowed. Then came screenplays (I blame Star Wars: Episode 1 for encouraging teenage me to write for film), and finally, books. If you read my work and wonder why it plays like a movie in your head and tugs at your heartstrings, now you know why.

People always tell you to write what you know. I know pain. I know suffering. I know oppression. I know solitude. I know what it’s like when hope is the only thing keeping you sane. But I also know love, and friends who become more like family than your biological family, and forcing your eyes forward when looking at the ground feels comforting.

These are the stories I write . . . because these are the stories that have helped me explore the possibilities and make sense of my life.
