Daniel A. J. Barker is a UK-based author and the founder of Depths of Dreams Publishing. His work moves across fantasy, science fiction, contemporary fiction, and reflective nonfiction, but remains centred on people: how they carry grief, fear, love, responsibility, and hope when the world around them begins to change.

He is the creator of the Silicat Saga, beginning with Silicat: Where the Spirit Goes, Magic Follows. Rooted in loss, family, memory, and unexpected magic, the series follows generations of characters through a world shaped by the places where the human spirit leaves its mark.

His science fiction includes the Conscious Minds series, which explores identity, survival, technology, and the increasingly fragile divide between humanity and the machines it creates. He is also the author of Battle-Mech Omega, a near-future thriller about invasion, manipulation, and the cost of turning human beings into weapons.

His contemporary novel Another Grain of Salt approaches heartbreak, healing, and the awkward business of rebuilding with honesty, humour, and little interest in pretending recovery follows a straight line.

Alongside his fiction, Daniel writes reflective nonfiction through The Book of Dan and its sequel, A Journey of Heart and Mind. These books explore anxiety, grief, doubt, self-trust, and the effort involved in finding steadier ground without offering false promises or easy answers.

Through Depths of Dreams Publishing, Daniel works with narrators, illustrators, and other creative collaborators to produce original books and audiobooks across a growing catalogue.
