Once upon a time I was a weird and nerdy kid with a taste for World War II history and Larry Hama's GI Joe comic books. Then I got into Tom Clancy, Larry Bond, Stephen Hunter, Robert Heinlein, and so on. I still have a bit of a book hoarding problem. To make a long story short, I then walked into a recruiting office and spent several years being much cooler than I am now, while abusing my liver and tearing up my knees. While sitting behind a desk partly crippled, I discovered John Ringo and Tom Kratman, then Larry Correia. Then I started trying to write books instead. Now that is a combo platter of issues, but it's still cheaper than therapy. Authors are supposed to be slightly unhinged, and the all the 'troubled veteran' stereotypes give you so much maneuvering room in a space already filled with oddballs. Not knowing what to do with the best manuscript I had, I then ran into a guy on a rifle range and we got talking while I loaned him a M1 Garand. It turns out he was a publisher. Now I have my first novel. Thanks, John. You can find my latest ramblings on Facebook at "Dan Kemp Author" since Amazon has disabled author blogs. Follow me here for new release information. The dankempauthor.com web site is up, but about half-built. "Daniel Kemp is a former infantry non-commissioned officer and aspiring author. A 1995, no, 1996, not quite, okay, finally, a 1998 graduate of the University of Mississippi, he went on to the US Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia and a variety of assignments in Korea and at Fort Campbell, Kentucky for the next decade. He then reused experiences in Korea, Kosovo, and Iraq (twice!) while completing his Master's in Military History through Norwich University in 2012. His Capstone was on the US Army's infantry division force structure and personnel replacement system in World War II."
