DEREK CHATMAN DOESN’T JUST WRITE STORIES. HE BUILDS WORLDS YOU CAN STEP INSIDE—AND LEAVES YOU WITH QUESTIONS LONG AFTER YOU STEP OUT.

FROM SOUTH JAMAICA, QUEENS TO AN INTERNATIONAL LITERARY FOOTPRINT.

Derek Chatman is an independent, multi-genre author whose cinematic, character-driven storytelling explores power, loyalty, ambition, betrayal, love, survival, family, revenge, loss, and the consequences of the choices we make.

But underneath every Derek Chatman story is something deeper.

MEANING.

His goal isn’t simply to entertain you.

It’s to make you feel something while you’re reading—and leave you thinking when the final page is turned.

What would you have done?

How far would you go for someone you love?

When does ambition become greed?

When does revenge stop being justice?

What does loyalty really mean when maintaining it costs you something?

His characters aren’t perfect, because people aren’t perfect. They make choices. They make mistakes. They love. They hurt. They win. They lose.

And they live with the consequences.

That philosophy sits at the heart of the SOUTHSIDE KINGS saga—an interconnected five-book crime universe born in South Jamaica, Queens:

SOUTHSIDE KINGS — THE RISE

THE OUTSIDE WAR — THE WAR

RETRIBUTION SEASON — THE PRICE

DIAMOND DUST — COMING NEXT

CROWN OF ASHES — COMING

And the universe is getting bigger.

THE COMMISSION, an old-school Mafia spinoff series, is currently in the works.

BLOOD BINDS US. SILENCE PROTECTS US.

But Derek Chatman refuses to be defined by one genre.

LIPSTICK, COCAINE & REVENGE puts readers directly inside Geneva’s world through an unapologetic first-person female voice and explores survival, power, desire, betrayal, revenge, and what can happen when someone decides she will never be powerless again.

WHAT SHE LEFT ON MY TONGUE: PLEASURE HAS A MEMORY explores intimacy, relationships, desire, emotion, connection, and the memories people leave behind.

THE DAY MY FEELINGS CAME TO LIFE brings his commitment to meaningful, emotionally driven storytelling to younger readers.

Different genres.

Different voices.

Different worlds.

ONE STORYTELLING PHILOSOPHY:

MAKE THE READER FEEL SOMETHING.

FROM QUEENS TO THE WORLD.

What began with an independent author telling stories has developed into a growing international literary footprint, with Derek Chatman’s books now available in more than 26 countries around the world.

The stories may carry the DNA of New York.

But the emotions, choices, consequences, relationships, and questions inside them have no borders.

AND THE EXPERIENCE DOESN’T HAVE TO END ON THE PAGE.

For readers and listeners who want to go even deeper, Derek Chatman’s growing audiobook catalog takes his storytelling to another level.

Reading lets you enter the story.

Listening lets you hear it breathe.

The voices.

The conversations.

The tension.

The emotion.

The moments of silence when the words have already said enough.

Audiobooks pull you further inside these worlds, allowing you to experience the characters and emotions in an entirely different way.

READ THE STORY.

THEN HEAR IT.

FEEL IT ON ANOTHER LEVEL.

Because when you finish a Derek Chatman story, the goal isn’t simply for you to remember what happened.

It’s for you to think about WHY it happened.

To question the decisions.

To think about the consequences.

And maybe, somewhere between the first page and the last, to recognize something about life—or even yourself.

If a Derek Chatman story follows you after you close the book, then the story did its job.

FROM SOUTH JAMAICA, QUEENS TO READERS AROUND THE WORLD.

THE STORIES ARE GETTING BIGGER.

THE UNIVERSES ARE EXPANDING.

AND THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING.

COME FOR THE STORY.

STAY FOR THE CHARACTERS.

LEAVE WITH SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT.
