About the Author Cyn Meyer is the creator of the Rewire My Retirement program and a modern certified life coach committed to helping older adults turn their retirement years into their best years, full of purpose and passion. She founded Second Wind Movement in 2018 as a valuable resource dedicated to older adults who are striving for healthy, active, and engaged retirement lives. Every publication in her content library is educational and based on thorough research and successful application in real life. The material in her blog articles, YouTube videos, workbooks, and coursework span across the topics in the 5 Rings of Retirement. My Mission, Your Journey... Everyone deserves fulfilling retirement years. Sadly, this isn't always the case. I’ve experienced a lot of loss and death in my life, and I don’t believe the majority of those who passed had a chance to live out fulfilling lives. The reality first shook me when I started playing music in retirement homes. I saw early on what happens with a sedentary lifestyle post-retirement and at the end of life. Then I saw this at age sixteen when I lost my aunt to cancer. Her passing instilled in me a deep fear of aging without purpose—a feeling that has stayed with me throughout my life, especially after experiencing a great number of losses since then. After witnessing the brevity of people's “retirement honeymoon period” while serving in the financial services industry, the poor impact of society’s aging stereotypes became too clear. The cognitive health and brain impact shook me as well. Both of my grandparents passed, touched by Alzheimer’s, which happens to one out of three at the end of life. And then there’s my dad. Despite surviving a brain surgery and near-death experience in 2011, he fell back into old habits of worry and duty, fearing retirement would leave him bored and purposeless. These experiences drove me to delve deep into neuroscience. I began coaching older adults one on one in 2018 and committed my life’s work to finding ways to help people achieve fulfilling retirement lives through the power of brain plasticity and tailored life coaching tools. The Rewire Retirement Method, rooted in neuroplasticity, is my answer to the fear of purposeless aging and goes well beyond your typical financial planning. It's a scientific system designed to help you embrace retirement as an exciting new growth journey, not a stereotypical time to wind down and settle into stagnancy. My mission is simple: to help you live a vibrant, purposeful retirement life because you deserve nothing less.
