Claire Heath is an Australian freelance writer and editor. She has many years of experience in journalism, publishing, writing, and editing. Most of her work has been in business, the non-profit sector, and government. Her favourite part of editing is helping other people find their voice, and see their ideas and words take flight. She has also taught English to adult speakers of other languages, and has discovered that this has given her a more nuanced understanding of how her own language works. Her favourite pastimes are reading, hiking in wild places, long-distance cycling, taking photos, and spoiling her new grandchild. Claire took on the project to write about Brisbane because, having lived there for many years, she knows that this laid-back city offers a lot. The activities and places described in the book are among her favourites, and those she likes to introduce visiting friends to. She’s spent the last five years living overseas, mostly in Latin America. Returning to base after time away helps her see Brisbane with the fresh curiosity with which a newcomer greets the city.
