Christopher Evans has been a Member of Parliament since 2010, first for Islwyn and then Caerphilly. In the past, he has served on the justice, petitions and public accounts committees. Christopher has also acted as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Shadow Chancellor and Shadow Defence Secretary. Further to this he has been the shadow minister for defence procurement, social security and the digital economy His first book, Fearless Freddie: The Life and Times of Freddie Mills was published in 2017 and shortlisted for The Times Biography of the Year at the 2018 Sports Book Awards. Whilst his second book, a biography of legendary Leeds United and England manager, Don Revie, was also shortlisted for The Times Sports Book of the Year in 2022. His latest book Football Battalions - the elite footballers who went to war was published in 2025. Married to Julia, they have two children and live in South Wales.
