Chris Staedter is from Hilden (North Rhine-Westphalia) and studied German language and literature and musicology at the University of Bonn and Ruhr University Bochum. After working as a freelance assistant, she took up her first permanent position at the Cologne Opera in 1999. This was followed by stints at the Aalto Theater in Essen and the Städtische Bühnen Osnabrück, before she moved to the Theater Erfurt as Artistic Production Manager and Deputy General Manager, where she directed for the first time ("Salome" and "La clemenza di Tito"). Since 2016 she has worked in artistic production and contract management at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and lives in Steglitz with her husband, their child and two dachshund girls. In 2025, her two first crime novels ("Hardt am Abgrund" and "Kaiserschmarrn mit Todesfall") were published by Ullstein, alond with a Christmas short story in an anthology by Pattloch. In 2026, her crime novels will continue as a serie ("Hardt am Limit" and "Germknödel mit Todesfall"). In spring 2027, Chris Staedter will make her paperback debut with Ullstein.
