Chris is a premier hymn scholar in the United States. He works as an archivist and hymn scholar at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and he is the founder and editor of Hymnology Archive. Chris holds music degrees from Western Michigan University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a master of library science degree from the University of Kentucky. He has served as chief author/editor, proofing editor, or consulting editor on many projects, including The Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs of Isaac Watts (2016), Spurgeon’s Own Hymn Book (2019), Amazing Love! How Can It Be: Studies on Hymns by Charles Wesley (2020), Sing the Wonders, 3rd ed. (2021), The Gospel Story Hymnal (2023), Sing Unto the Lord: A Liturgical Hymnal (2023), Hymns & Devotions for Daily Worship (2024), and Getty Music’s Sing! Hymnal (2025).
