Welcome, Twenty years ago it wouldn't have seemed possible that I'd be in this position today. Next to raising four kids, writing now consumes the lions share of my free time. Adventure Travel Journals and Action/Adventure/Romance novels may seem an odd combination, but for both there's a story to tell, and I find the combination dovetails nicely. Those endless miles on the motorcycle provide plenty of opportunity for reflection and some of my best plots have been handed to me that way. I say 'handed to me' because in my mind that's how creativity works. My virtual co-pilot hands me a piece of paper and says "Read This." I've stopped wondering about where he gets it from. Next up is the sequel to 'The Kahn Enigma'. 'The Columbus Relic' will be launched Dec 2018. The journals will also continue with an as yet unnamed motorcycle collection, followed by 'Indian Summer Crossing' - a Trans Canada Journal. At 68 I’m not pushing the envelope forward anymore, but I’m still on the road. Probably best defined by my insatiable curiosity, I’ve spent a lifetime exploring the world’s corners, on foot, kayak, bicycle or motorcycle. I consider myself an explorer; I don’t seek out adventures, but as many of you know, if you stick your nose into enough dark holes, adventures will find YOU. We prepare for them, then cope as best we can. In 1973 I learned to ride on a Honda 175 and I stayed with Honda through the mid 80’s. In 1988 I made my first major transcontinental tour on a 750 Virago. That trip’s journal was the basis for the book ‘Alone In The Wind’. Looking for something very different, I latched onto a Heritage Softail. That guy stayed with me for 15 years though I never toured on it, four kids kept me too busy. At age 66 I wanted to start touring again, and I looked at everything - starting with Yamaha and Indian. I ended up with a Harley Freewheeler trike. A lifetime of sports injuries makes holding a bike up in traffic problematic and trikes started looking good. There are more three wheeler choices then you might imagine. I wanted the two wheels in the back, so I can carry a bigger tent & more gear and that narrowed the field down to HD. After 45 years of riding, converting from 2 to 3 wheels was a focused effort. All of the old habits that had been burned into reflexes don’t always work on the trike. When it comes to steering they can get you killed. So there was a long 500 miles of transition and now it is my ride. I will post updates on my tours, which will be short (less than a week) until September when I plan to do a trans-Canada.
