Chad Ryan is the author of Ghost River, a contemporary dark fantasy/horror novel set in the haunted desert town of Orphan Rock — a debut readers called "wildly original, warped, and creepy as hell" and compared to a mashup of Clive Barker and Stephen King.

Ryan has spent more than thirty years honing his craft. He writes horror, dark fantasy, and Southwestern Gothic: fiction built on grief, mythic weight, and broken characters you'll never forget. His stories go to dark places — and they go there for a reason.

He's also the creator of Writing Is War, a weekly series of original dark fiction — new stories written and narrated by the author — launching in 2026 on Substack and YouTube.
