A native Washingtonian, Cece Whittaker spent the first part of her career as a musician, later moving to the Southern New Jersey Shore and returning to her first love, writing. The Serve Series, a chronicle of four women living on the Jersey shore during World War II and after, draws its humor and inspiration from genuine multi-generational characters who lived in those days as well as her very active and happily nourished imagination. Cece's Roman Catholic perspective offers a hopeful and sincere viewpoint, with plenty of realism. The four women featured in the 10-book series, Annie, Joan, Helen, and Bernice, are close friends whose husbands or boyfriends are in the service. The outcomes of those relationships--plus a whole lot more-comprise the series, running from 1943 to 1946. Cece writes with humor and passion, presented honestly and through a Christian heart.
