Cate Perry writes women’s fiction about friendship, found family, second chances, and the wonderfully messy business of figuring out what comes next.

A longtime educator, Cate has spent much of her life surrounded by stories—both the ones she teaches and the ones people carry with them. She’s especially drawn to women whose lives haven’t gone according to plan, who make mistakes (sometimes spectacular ones!), and who discover that starting over doesn't always mean starting alone.

Cate holds a B.A. in English Literature and a master’s degree in Secondary Education. She has taught English for thirty years and also works as a developmental editor. Her writing has appeared in Bernie Siegel’s A Book of Miracles and the literary journal HamLit. She is an alumna of the Squaw Valley Writers Workshop, and her fiction has twice been recognized by the Ink & Insights Writing Contest, including a Judge’s Favorite honor for Before the Next Mistake.

She lives in Washington’s beautiful Skagit Valley, where she can be found working on her next novel, singing and playing music at open mic nights, helping other writers wrestle their stories into submission, and convincing herself that whatever she just did absolutely counts as research.
