Hi, and thank you for visiting my author page. I’ve spent over 30 years working across the National Health Service (NHS), social care, and education in the UK. I originally qualified as a social worker and worked with people of all ages and abilities, as well as with carers, before moving into staff development and learning roles. Supporting people to grow, learn, and feel understood has always been at the heart of my work. I’m also a celebrant, creating warm, inclusive ceremonies that honour people’s stories and life transitions. It’s another extension of my love for words, connection, and gentle, meaningful support. I’m a lifelong logophile — a lover of words, stories, and the strange, funny phrases that appear in health and social care. When I moved from social care into the NHS after three decades, it felt like stepping into a whole new language, so I started collecting the expressions that made me smile, pause, or scratch my head. Those collections eventually became books, written for anyone who has ever felt a little lost in workplace jargon. More recently, my writing has expanded into gentle, neurodivergent‑affirming colouring books designed to offer calm, comfort, and emotional support working with my friend Johanna Weller. These books reflect my passion for inclusion, creativity, and helping people feel seen and understood. At home, I’m kept company by two cats, Jess and Maisie, who supervise all typing, and a very patient husband who wonders why I spend so much time writing and daydreaming when there are other things I could be doing.
