Carole Starr has been living with brain injury since 1999, when she was broadsided on the driver's side by a vehicle going 50mph. Carole was unable to return to her work as an educator or her hobby as a classical musician and she still copes with daily brain injury symptoms. With time, help, and strategies, Carole learned to embrace her new life and to focus on what she could do, one small step at a time. Today, Carole uses her lived experience to educate, advocate and support others living with brain injury. She is the author of the award-winning book To Root & To Rise: Accepting Brain Injury and Silver Learnings: Practical Wisdom for Living with Brain Injury. Carole keynotes at brain injury conferences across the country, facilitates a brain injury support group and is a leader in state and national brain injury groups. Through her writing, speaking, and leadership, Carole is committed to making a difference and helping others find strength, meaning, and hope after brain injury.
