Carol was raised in a small village in the New Forest in the area where her books are set. What better playground that 250sq miles of unfenced wildness and a pony to ride. She has always loved all things ‘animal’ and is particularly keen on horses. She has happily ridden miles across the open heaths and lawns of the forest on a variety of animals and has less happily walked home on her own when she has fallen off and not kept hold of the reins. It was a lesson she learned very quickly.
Having married a farmer, she became a relief tractor driver, adept at milking cows, hand rearing lambs, keeping ducks and chicken and skilled in the art of carrying an empty bucket to stop being given yet more tasks. It was just the best place to raise a family and write some short articles for the RSPCA and farming magazines.
Following retirement, Carol had an opportunity to try her hand at crime fiction and the Murder in the New Forest series of novels were born.
