Rev. Ryan (Captain Mango) Althaus is an ordained minister and regional inclusivity affiliate for National Presbyterian Church USA as well as the Minister of interfaith relations for the Santa Cruz, CA Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. He has dual Masters degrees in Divinity and Nonprofit Business Development as well as certifications as a Clinical Psych Chaplain, Yoga instructor and Personal Trainer and can often be found out surfing or sailing the California shores. Ryan is also a licensed boat Captain and leads an experiential Therapy program called Worries to the Wind aboard his forty foot Catamaran Sailboat. Coming off a professional Marathon career and five years elite competition in the Ironman Triathlon, Ryan has ample experience in the world of endurance athletics, and much of his work around eating disorder recovery has evolved out of his personal participation as both an athlete and coach. As far as living goes...Ryan lives a simple life, residing at the Sobriety home he manages a block away from the beach alongside of his trusty k-9 friend, Rafiki.
