Wild Song by Candy Gourlay won the Luchs Prize in Germany, the National Children's Book Award in the Philippines and was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal, the Caffe Nero Book Award and the Jhalak Prize in the UK. Candy was born in the Philippines, grew up under the Marcos dictatorship, and was a journalist for the opposition press during the 1986 revolution. She now lives in London, writing books for young people of all ages. Her first novel Tall Story was selected as one of the ‘100 Best Books of the Last 100 Years’ by Booktrust, while Bone Talk is endorsed by Amnesty International. She is also a comics creator, runner up for the 2023 Faber Graphic Short Story Award.
