Candis Watts Smith is Professor of Political Science at Duke University. She the author or co-author of several books and dozens of academic articles focused on the effects of inequality on the quality of American democracy. In addition to contributions to venues like Washington Post and Newsweek, Smith has given a TED talk on three myths about racism in America that has been viewed over 2 million times, and she is a co-host of the Democracy Works Podcast hosted by the McCourtney Institute for Democracy.
